Show Underlying Data to End Users

3min

Overloading data to show as an in-visual drill down will impact performance. Consider using a separate page instead.

The Aimplan Planning & Reporting Visual allows users to see the underlying data of a cell through the context menu. This is useful for debugging or for giving advanced users a glimpse at what they are working with.

Accessing the Show Data Menu

To see underlying data, simply right-click on a value cell and select "Show Data". This option is always available in the "Preview" mode of the designer, but for end users it has to be explicitly enabled.

To enable end users to access this menu, navigate to visual settings. Then in the "End User Drill Columns" dropdown, select the columns that should be visible to the end user when they press "Show Data".

Remarks

  • The "Preview" feature will always show all columns, regardless of what is selected in the "End User Drill Columns" dropdown. This is because it is mainly a debugging feature.
