Resolving the "Approval Required" Message While Logging Into Aimplan

4min

In your course of using Aimplan, you might sometimes encounter a message saying "Approval Required" during sign in. This article explains what it signifies, why it occurs, and who is authorized to approve your request.

Understand the "Approval Required" Message

When you try to log into Aimplan using your Microsoft Organizational accounts (M365), you may sometimes see an "Approval Required" message. This message means that the sign-in attempt has triggered an Admin Consent process in your Microsoft Azure Active Directory (Azure AD).

The Admin Consent process is a security measure in the Azure AD. It's intended to ensure that applications seeking to access company data, like Aimplan, are doing so with the explicit permission of an admin.

Why is Approval Required?

Approvals are necessary for Aimplan to prevent unauthorized access to potentially sensitive business data, in accordance with Microsoft’s data security policies. As part of the consent process, Microsoft will require someone from your organization with administrative privileges to allow Aimplan to retrieve the necessary data from your Azure AD to facilitate the login process.

The approval is required from your organization's own Microsoft Azure AD administrator - not Aimplan administrators. Aimplan does not have the authority to approve access to an organization's Azure AD; only your own administrators have that level of access rights.

How to Solve "Approval Required" Message

If you come across the "Approval Required" message, you need to contact your Azure AD admin following these steps:

  1. Contact your organization's Microsoft Azure AD administrator and inform them about the "Approval Required" message you have received when trying to log into Aimplan.
  2. Ask the admin to provide approval for Aimplan to access your Azure AD information by granting consent.
  3. If the admin is unsure about granting approvals, guide them to Microsoft's official documentation on Manage user assignment to an application  or How to provide tenant wide admin consent
  4. Once the admin has approved, you should be able to log in without seeing an "Approval Required" message.

Remember that if you encounter any further issues or need more information, your first point of contact should be your organizational Azure AD admin and not the Aimplan team.
