Overview

This document provides an overview of the processes and sub-processes within the Aimplan administration portal. Administrators can define multiple processes, each containing one or more sub-processes. These processes and sub-processes are used in conjunction with the Aimplan Status Visual to indicate which steps in a process have been completed or remain pending (or other statuses). In reporting, processes and the Status Visual can be used to approve the monthly month-end numbers. However, the use of the Status Visual and processes becomes even more critical in planning, budgeting, and forecasting.

What is a Process?

A Process represents a high-level repetitive process that is executed regularly and contains a fixed set of sub-processes. Example processes can be for example;

  • Yearly Budget
  • Quarterly Forecast
  • Monthly Sales Forecast
  • Monthly Closing

Administrator users can define one or several different processes to coordinate and orchestrate their planning and reporting in Power BI.

Sub-Processes

A Sub-Process is a major step within a Process. Sub-processes allow administrators to break down the process into specific areas of focus that should be performed in the process.

As an example, the yearly budget process might be divided into the following sub-processes;

  • Sales and Revenue Planning
  • COGS Planning
  • Headcount and OPEX Planning
  • Other Costs Planning
  • CAPEX Planning

When the Aimplan Status Visual is used in a Power BI report page, it will manage the status in relation to one of sub-processes combined with a selected set of dimensions.

I.e. when a manger has finalized the Headcount and OPEX Planning for Cost Center 1010 and Scenario Budget 2025, the Status visual will store the status-change to Finalized, connected to these dimension members plus the sub-process.
