Introduction

The Aimplan Commenting visual enables users to seamlessly add comments within their reports. Unlike the built-in comment functionality, our custom visual revolutionizes the way users interact with their data by directly connecting comments to the underlying data points.

The commenting visual can be downloaded from AppSource. Simply click on the "Get more visuals" option from within the visualization pane, and then search for "Aimplan Comment Visual".

Once added, the visual can be directly used in a read-only mode. This allows you to display, not just Aimplan comments, but any markdown formatted text. Simply drag a text-measure into the "Text Measure" box, and it will display it.

If you want to display multiple text measures, you can add display-fields that will divide them.

You can also add a value for "Updated By" and "Updated At", and these will display just below the comment in the visual.

The visual can be put into editing mode by clicking on the three dots in the top-right corner, and then selecting "Edit".

From there, you can select which instance you want this visual to work towards, and which target-table it should write comments to.

Once a target table has been selected, the visual will fetch the fields that the target table expects. These fields must then be provided in the key-fields container, much like when working with the planning visual.

Once all fields are provided, you will be able to edit & add comments for the provided dimensions.
