2024 Q3
All visuals now support Entra ID authentication. This greatly improves the security of the application and enables future development of features such as semantic model dropdowns. It also reduces the complexity of reports as user keys become obsolete.

It is now possible to configure actions that will occur when a storage table is updated. We support two different event types: Webhooks and stored procedures.

You can now populate dropdowns with data directly from your semantic model without dragging fields into the "Fields" bucket. This prevents cross-joins and similar issues that the fields bucket would cause.

It's now possible to extend your Data Input Table by merging it with a table from a Semantic model using the Primary key(s) from the Storage table. This allows you to enrich your Data Input Table with additional informative columns that do not exist in the original Storage table.
Expressions have gotten a new addition in form of unary expressions. That is, expressions that take a single value and return another. You will find these under the "Apply operator" menu in the expression editors.
It is now possible to add filters onto values themselves. This makes it possible to allow many values to share a single value or value-comment measure. Previously this was only achievable by including the measure as a grouping, but that would in turn prevent the values from having different formatting. This allows for both to co-exist.
In the same way that it was previously possible to create aliases for values, you can now create aliases for fields (groupings).
You can now re-order sections by simply dragging them.
Settings within "Visual Settings" have been grouped & organized, split into sub-panels, and even got a search bar. This makes it much easier to quickly navigate to the setting you are interested in.
It is now easier to find your fields within expression editors. All field dropdowns are now categorized into fields, key-fields, and values, based on which bucket they are provided in.
It is now possible to choose if a visual should refresh after save or not. This may be useful in some complex models where a refresh is too costly. There is also the option to add a manual refresh button to the visual itself so that users don't need to find the Power BI refresh.
All components of the portal have been updated align with modern Microsoft UI look and feel. In the process, we have also greatly improved the accessibility of the page through screen-reader friendly components, better contrasts & improved keyboard support.
You will find that all the features are found in the same spot but may look slightly different.
Did you forget a scenario where you need one more dimension? Wouldn't it be easy if you could just duplicate your table and add/remove a column or two? Well now you can. Under "Create Table" you will now find the option to duplicate an existing table.
Tired of copying color codes into a notepad file to reuse them in another location in your reports? You can now create palettes in the portal which can be re-used in all visuals. Simply go to https://portal.aimplan.com/palettes and configure your palette, then you will find them in the swatches of your visuals.
